Another step closer!!

I have decided that I want to learn about holistic health care.  Not as a patient, although with my aching kidney it wouldn't be a bad idea!  But I mean for a career choice.  There are many great and accredited schools that offer online or correspondence type courses that would allow me to learn at the kitchen table while I teach my kids there too.  Not a bad idea!

I was interested in this option  about a year ago, and then decided that the time wasn't right.  Right now isn't either, however it is something that I will take into serious consideration for a very near future prospect.

There are many different schools that give different titles, certifications, and diplomas to what they offer so I know that I will need to be very clear about what it is that I am looking for and find out if they are going to fit that expectation.

The ideas that I am interested in  are holistic nutrition as it pertains to the health and well being of a person and how they eat and exercise and  herbal alternatives to doctor prescribed medications that may be safer on the body.  So far this is what I am looking for and am not sure if there is a program offered by one place that will fulfill this desire.

anyone know please share!!

I did CSNN and it was good. The distance education involves a lot of reading (actually both in class and distance education involves a ton of reading). The thing I liked about in class is that you get the extra knowledge from the teachers that you don't get with the distance education. I took both one course with distance (because I moved to Windsor and I needed to catch up with the class) and I know I didn't get as much out of that course. I know you said you wanted to do it distance education, but CSNN does have a part time evening program.

I also know someone who is taking distance education with Edison Institute of Nutrition, and she really likes it, but still tons of reading.

There are tons of other programs out there, but I wasn't a big fan of the others. Just make sure that you look and see what sort of certificates or memberships in associations you will get with your certificate.

One more thing...this is very important for Ottawa. Make sure that you can get coverage for insurance. Government workers have good benefits and if you can be a covered service, it helps!

If you have more questions, you know where to find me :)

Good luck!

PS Ottawa is a much better market for this stuff than Windsor...its all about finding your niche. If you are confident with your knowledge people will listen.
